2 blogs on the same day wow .. i really am jobless ...
But this one is again attributed to another friend of mine lets call her X .... on reading the blog she said
X : see its a blog. you can write what you like
so there is nothing one can say
or critically evaluate
hello?
Aman : yaeh
X : yes so thats all.
however if you want people to read it and enjoy it and stuff
then this would not really sell
alright then
gotta go dude
tata
so this again made me think ... ( whats wrong with me ) how to write a blog that sells...
Firstly wat exactly is meant by a blog selling ?
on doing a random google search i found out that it had 2 meanings
1.) Using a blog to sell your professional services
2.) Writing a blog that everyone wants to read and gains somwthing from ( distructive or constructive)
i am quite sure X meant the latter of the 2.
So i set out on a quest of the blogs that sell
To do the same i started to see the blogs of note from jan 2001 .. and the blogs of note were always those that were directly / indirectly selling something ... or with racy pics of females in bikinis ... ( ngos and journos also had popular blogs that occasionally turned up but shhh that will just make this boring .. i am assuming that the text in bracket is gonna be ignored)
After going through these blogs my interests shifted to the evolution of blogs .. and that ofcourse led me to Wikipedia, the new darling of the internet world
source : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blog
It explains how blogging evolved from 1983 ( pre http) to 2007 and a few associates posting summaries of interesting postings and threads taking place elsewhere on the net led to the first blogger, a student at Swarthmore College(1994) in the years that followed the online diaries started catching on and corporates too realised the gold mine that blogs would turn out to be and started hiring full time blog writers.
But it is from 2001 that the importance of blogging communities (and its relationship to larger society) increased rapidly, wherein started blogs about political discontent, justice and even attrocities of war. The effects of these led govts to panic, The indian govt blinked in 2006 by banning blogging communities and decided to censor them amidst widespread protest.
Today blogs are commercialised, with every big company having its own blog popularising their products through it, politicians use their blogs for their political campaigns, opposing factions use blogs to slander each other and popularity seekin bloggers use the "artistic/aesthetic" pictures. While the true bloggers the bloggers who write substance ( no no not me i am in a league of my own the nonsensical blogs) who give real opinions which make you think are pushed on to the Blog NOT of note while the condoleezzas, the bushs, the apples take away the popularity and are the blogs of note... I just hope these "Commercialogs" dont win over our dear blogs which we love reading. ( also hope one day i can write a blog of substance)
